Troubleshooting
Fixes for common problems. Answers marked as built-in rules, changes missing in another browser, a screen link that won't open, microphone trouble, and demo outreach and checkout that don't send or charge.
Most problems have a quick fix. An answer marked as built-in rules means no AI model answered, changes that don't show elsewhere are saved in the browser where you made them, a screen link that won't open is usually for a draft or paused screen, and microphone trouble is usually a browser permission. If none of the sections below fixes it, see Getting help.
Answers marked as built-in rules
Labels such as "Answered by Emoti's built-in rules" or "Criteria read by Emoti's built-in rules" mean that an AI model didn't produce that result. Emoti sends model requests through its own gateway, where an admin assigns a model, with fallbacks, to each kind of task. If no model is set up, or none answers, every feature still works with simpler built-in rules: the agent replies from set patterns, a search reads criteria by keyword, and Ask quotes the most relevant parts of the transcript. A note you reformat is rebuilt from the existing note and transcript.
- In the demo, this is expected when no model is set up.
- If you run Emoti yourself, sign in to the admin console and assign a model to each kind of task under LLM gateway. Usage there shows which model answered each request.
- If you usually get full answers, the AI service may have been busy for that request. Try again in a minute.
Changes don't show in another browser
For now, Emoti saves what you do, such as searches, shortlists, edited notes, settings, checkouts and any account you create, in your browser's local storage. Your changes stay in the browser and on the device where you made them. Another browser, another computer, a different browser profile or a private window starts from the sample data, and links to things you made in your usual browser, such as a collection or an invoice, won't open there. Clearing your browser's site data for emoti.ai resets the demo to the sample data.
An AI screen link won't open
What the page says tells you why:
- "This screen isn't available": the link may be out of date or incomplete. In the demo, it also appears when the screen was made in another browser, so open the link in the browser where you made it.
- "Candidates can't open this screen until it's published": the screen is still a draft. The recruiter opens it in AI screens and chooses Publish.
- "This screen is paused": the recruiter paused it. They choose Resume to let candidates start it again.
If you're a candidate, contact the company that sent you the link. Only they can publish, resume or resend a screen.
Microphone trouble in a voice screen
- When your browser asks to use the microphone, allow it. If you blocked it earlier, change the microphone permission for the site in your browser's settings, then reload the page.
- Close other apps that might be using the microphone, such as video calling apps.
- Check that the right microphone is selected in your device's sound settings and that it isn't muted.
- Headphones with a built-in microphone cut down echo, and a quiet room helps the interviewer hear you.
- Still stuck? Try another up-to-date browser or device, then contact the company that invited you.
Demo outreach, invites and payments
The demo doesn't send or charge anything. Starting a sequence, approving first lines or inviting a candidate to a screen only changes the workspace in your browser. Inviting a teammate adds a pending invite but sends no email, so copy the invite link from Team instead. No email or message goes out. Billing runs in test mode: checkout records an invoice marked Test mode, and no card is charged. The notetaker can't join real calls. See About the demo workspace.
Can't find something
Press Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows to search pages, roles, conversations and people. If a link says a page or conversation doesn't exist, it may be old, or the item was made in another browser. For anything else, ask Emoti Genie or see Getting help.
