Personal first lines
How Emoti writes an opening line for each person in a sequence from their profile, how it's marked as AI-written, how to edit it, and why nothing is sent until you approve it.
Every person in a sequence gets an opening sentence written for them from their profile, so the first thing they read is about them, not about you. You review each line, and can edit it, before anything goes out.
How the line is written
The agent reads the person's profile and writes one sentence from what it finds, such as:
- what they do in their current role
- skills they have that the role's brief asks for
- relevant industry background
- something public about their work, such as speaking at conferences, maintaining open-source projects or a recent promotion
When nothing specific stands out, the line draws on their years in the field and their most recent company. Being open to work is private, and it never goes into a message.
Where the line appears
In each email, the personal first line goes where the message has its placeholder, usually right after the greeting. On the sequence page, that placeholder is shown in blue, the colour Emoti uses for AI-written text, next to others such as first name and your signature.
Each person's actual line is listed under Personal first lines on the sequence page, marked "Written by Emoti".
Approve before anything is sent
Nothing is sent to a person until you approve their first line. On the sequence page:
- Read each line under Personal first lines.
- To change a line, choose Edit, rewrite it, then choose Done.
- Choose Approve for each line you're happy with, or Approve all when several are waiting.
- Approved lines show Approved, who approved them and when, and "edited" if the line was changed. Choose Undo to take an approval back.
The list shows people who haven't been contacted yet. If a line isn't right and you'd rather not fix it, don't approve it, and that person isn't contacted. Once someone has been contacted, their line moves to the sent lines, which you can show for reference.
What to check before you approve
- It's accurate. Check it against the profile.
- It's about their work, not their personal life.
- It reads naturally next to the rest of the message.
- It still works if they aren't looking for a new job.
