Briefing the agent
How to brief Emoti's agent on Home, what it prepares for you, why you review every draft, what Needs you lists, and how it works when no AI model is set up.
Home has one box for the agent: "What should we work on?" Describe a role, paste a job description, or ask about a candidate or a role. The agent replies with a short plan and prepares the next steps for you to open. It never sends, schedules or changes anything by itself.
Write a brief the agent can use
Brief the agent the way you'd brief a sourcer. A good brief says:
- the role and level, such as "senior product designer"
- where: a city, a region, or remote
- the minimum years of experience, if it matters
- the two or three skills that matter most
- any industry background you'd like
For example: "Senior machine learning engineer in Singapore, 5+ years, PyTorch, has shipped forecasting models, ideally from logistics." You can also ask for a next step, such as "Create a first-round screen for the account executive role".
Press Return to send and Shift + Return for a new line. For more, see Writing a brief that finds the right people.
What the agent prepares
Each reply comes with up to three actions. Nothing happens until you choose one.
| Action | Button | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| A sourcing search | Run search | Emoti reads the brief into criteria and opens the matches in Sourcing. |
| An outreach sequence | Open draft | Emoti creates a draft sequence for the role and opens it. Nobody is enrolled yet. |
| An AI screen | Open draft | Emoti creates a draft screen with questions and a rubric. Candidates can't take it until you publish it. |
| A page | Open | Takes you to a page, such as a role's applicants or recent conversations. |
Review before anything goes out
The agent prepares and you decide. Below the conversation, Emoti reminds you: "Replies are written by Emoti. Nothing is sent without you."
- A draft sequence sends nothing until you start it, and each person's first line waits for your approval. See Building an outreach sequence.
- A draft screen can't be taken until you publish it, so check the questions and rubric first. See Setting up an AI voice screen.
- A search only ranks people. Shortlisting, passing and revealing contact details are up to you.
Choose Clear conversation to start over.
What Needs you shows
Needs you on Home lists decisions only a person can make:
- shortlists to review
- replies to answer
- AI screens to score
- notes to share with the hiring team
- applicants to review
Each item says which role it's for and when it's due, and links to the page where you decide. Choose the tick (Mark as done) to clear an item. When the list is empty, you're clear, and the agent adds anything new that needs a decision.
When no AI model is set up
Emoti sends model requests through its own gateway, where an admin assigns a model, with fallbacks, to each kind of task, including the agent on Home. When no model is set up, Emoti still works through its built-in rules, and the interface says which one answered.
- Below the conversation you'll see "Answered by Emoti's built-in rules." The rules match what you ask for, such as finding people, outreach, a screen, notes or applicants, to the actions above. If nothing matches, they prepare a search from your words.
- In Sourcing, each search says whether its criteria were read by the AI model or by Emoti's built-in rules.
- If no model answers, the agent falls back to the rules.
- A few writing tasks, such as translating a call note, need an AI model.
