Look-alikes, market maps and talent pools
When to use Look-alikes, Market map and Talent pools in Sourcing instead of a plain search, and what each one shows you.
Sourcing has four modes. People searches from a brief or filters. When a brief isn't the best place to start, Look-alikes finds people like someone you'd hire again, Market map shows who works where for a discipline and region, and Talent pools gathers the people you've already shortlisted.
Look-alikes: start from a person
Use Look-alikes when you have someone you'd hire again tomorrow, such as a finalist the hiring manager loved.
- In Sourcing, choose Look-alikes.
- Pick a person. Emoti offers the people you've shortlisted, or a few people from the talent pool if you haven't shortlisted anyone yet.
- Choose Find people like, followed by their first name.
You can also choose Find look-alikes in any profile. That search stays attached to the same role.
Emoti builds the criteria from the person: their discipline, and a minimum a couple of years below their experience, as must-haves; their region, top skills and main industry as nice to have. From there it's a normal search, so edit the criteria as you would any other. See Describe who you're looking for.
Market map: see who works where
Use Market map at the start of a search, or when a hiring manager asks where the people are.
Choose a discipline and a region: Europe, Asia Pacific or North America. Emoti shows how many people in the talent pool match and at how many companies, then a table by company with:
- People: how many work there
- Senior and above
- Median years of experience
- Common skills
The industries under each company name help when the hiring manager wants a particular background. Choose Search this market to turn the map into a People search for that discipline and region.
Talent pools: people you've shortlisted
Talent pools gathers everyone you've shortlisted, grouped by role. Use it to see who you already have before you start a new search, or to come back to people later. Choose Open pool to see the shortlist for that role's search, where you can add people to outreach. If it's empty, shortlist people from a search and they'll appear here.
